Copyright Compliance

Please be advised that SFU Policy R30.04 Copyright Compliance and Administration describes how the university manages its rights and obligations under Canada’s copyright law when copyright protected materials in any media are used for a legitimate university teaching, learning, research or administrative purpose. The policy specifies the support and service the university will provide and outlines the responsibilities of various people at the university under the policy including students.

It is important that you abide by the requirements of Canada’s Copyright Act and SFU’s policies when making or distributing copies of copyright materials. Failure to do so could lead to a claim of copyright infringement and might result in serious consequences for the university and you.

Please familiarize yourself with this policy and note your rights and responsibilities under it. You can view the policy and related copyright information and resources for university members on the university's copyright website at https://www.lib.sfu.ca/help/academic-integrity/copyright.
