Friends of Simon Tutoring Program
Friends of Simon recruits, prepares, and assigns university students as literacy and numeracy tutors in the Lower Mainland, particularly with newcomer K-12 students. With our cooperating sites, Friends of Simon works to increase school success through after-school programs in small group and individualized settings.
Office assistants process timesheets, lead tutor reports, reimbursements, and were responsible for site scheduling. They also collect and organize the necessary data.
Lead Tutors initiate contact with the tutoring team, plan the outline of the day, and filled in a lead tutor report at the end of each session.
Tutors develop skills and knowledge through training and experience to support vulnerable school-aged students academically, socially and emotionally. Tutors also develop a sense of belonging on campus and awareness about future professional pathways.
