Writing and Learning Peer Educator
Writing and Learning Peer Educators work one-on-one with students on their writing and learning processes. In addition to academic writing in a variety of genres and at all stages, the conversation may include strategies for time management, presentations, reading, note-taking, exams, and other academic tasks. Both Peers and student clients come from diverse disciplines, years, backgrounds and learning approaches, and consultations take place in-person and virtually. Upon completion of training and direct service time requirements, Writing and Learning Peers can earn internationally recognized tutoring certification from the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).
Writing and Learning Peers are part of the larger program of Peer Education. Peer Educators commit to volunteering for the upcoming Fall and Spring terms. Additional terms are welcomed.
Consultation shifts are located at the Student Learning Commons on the Burnaby and/or Surrey campuses, depending on your preference, with the possibility of some shifts taking place remotely. Weekly group training sessions take place at the Burnaby campus.
