SFU’s 2030 Sustainability, Climate and Resilience Strategy
SFU’s 2030 Sustainability, Climate and Resilience Strategy establishes the university's sustainability, climate action, and resilience priorities for the next five years (2025-2030)—providing a clear roadmap for meaningful progress.
SFU has been reporting on our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions footprint since 2010. SFU's GHG Inventory includes a full accounting of value-chain emission sources, including scope 3 emissions.
As part of B.C.'s carbon neutral public sector, SFU is required to submit a Climate Change Accountability Report to the B.C. Climate Action Secretariat (Ministry of Environment) and the B.C. Ministry of Advanced Education. These reports summarize SFU's annual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the government-mandated reporting areas.
In 2021, SFU concluded a multi-year assessment and community consultation on climate risks and mitigations. The report has since been validated post-COVID-19 and is in active use by the relaunched SFU Climate Resilience Steering Committee.
