New Executive Director for Faculty Relations

April 26, 2023

The following announcement is from Wade Parkhouse, Provost and Vice-President Academic, pro tem, and Yabome Gilpin-Jackson, Vice-President, People, Equity and Inclusion.

After an extensive search process, we are pleased to let you know our new Executive Director for Faculty Relations is Catherine Stoddard, currently the Executive Director for the Provost and VP Academic. Catherine will begin her new role on May 1, 2023.

Catherine has broad and extensive experience in leadership roles at SFU, including within Faculty Relations. She first joined SFU in 2004 in the Faculty of Education. Since then, she has taken on roles of increasing responsibility including Director of Administration in the Faculty of Education, Director of Faculty Relations, Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Faculty Relations, and most recently Executive Director in the Office of the Provost and VP Academic.

Among her many leadership attributes, Catherine is a proactive problem solver adept at handling a range of situations with tact and diplomacy. She is an excellent team leader who relishes the role of getting work done through teams, both her own and others across the university. She is looking forward to working again with the team and bringing a fresh perspective to the role after working closely with other units and portfolios. She hopes this new perspective will help build stronger relationships across SFU.

Besides continuing to report to Wade Parkhouse, Provost and VP Academic, pro tem, Catherine will have a dotted line reporting relationship to Yabome Gilpin-Jackson as the VPPEI portfolio supports shared services for faculty such as benefits administration and immigration support. VPPEI leads support to faculty in collaboration with Faculty Relations for equity programs and faculty employment experience.

Please join us in congratulating Catherine on her new role.

Yours truly,

Wade Parkhouse
