I would strongly urge people to send feedback on this ridiculous survey to Comms & Marketing and to whomever Comms & Marketing report to. (Does anyone know who they report to?). Mentioning how much money SFU has recently paid this company seems like a good
addition to the feedback.
The completely random categories included in the questions about areas of academic excellence should be noted as well. Why these areas and not others? I’m an English prof, so I’ve never used surveys as a research tool, but it seems pretty obvious that
if you include some named areas and not others, those areas are the ones that will be noted in the results as areas of excellence!
Honestly, this is such an egregious waste of money and embarrassing indication of mediocrity among our (every multiplying) communications staff that I really hope I will not be alone in contacting SFU Admin about this.

I (mercifully) did not receive the survey. I note the survey is conducted by Academica Group.
For reference: According to the 2021 SFU Statement of Financial Information, the university paid the Academica Group Inc $52,951. This is the latest information I can find.
If the survey is substandard, a pointed question to SFU Comm/Mar (or Mar/Comm?) may be in order.

Lame doesn't even begin to cover it.
And the survey itself would get an F in any research design course.
Anyone else struck by how lame this survey is?
