Vancouver's high cost of living doesn't come as a surprise to any of its people. However, with the contribution of the rising costs of housing, entertainment, commute, and schooling, it doesn't take long for things to add up, eventually getting out of hand for the average middle-class Vancouverite.
Vancouver is consistently ranked as one of the most expensive cities in Canada, and it is only getting more costly. Vancouver's high cost of living contributes to the displacement of its people, and inequity and their health as well. Overall, Vancouver's high cost of living is detrimental to many.
Most Vancouverites are well aware of the rising costs of housing in the city, and how impactful they are on their lives. With rent prices reaching well over $1 000 a month, it has become harder for Vancouverites to establish financial independence or a family.
Vancouver has quite expensive transit costs, and gas prices in addition to parking costs in the city are also quite excessive. It has even become hard to afford getting around in the city, which further contributes to its lack of affordability for the average middle-class Vancouverite.
Our response is to educate the general population of the city of Vancouver on the drivers of change as much as we can. Through our pop-up established in the city, we hope to draw consumers to our products and ultimately our message on the drivers of change.
