Tenure-Track Faculty Positions

The School of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University invites applications for tenure-track faculty. We have multiple openings and will consider applications at all ranks, including assistant, associate, and full professor.  Excellent candidates in all areas of computer science are encouraged to apply.

Candidates are expected to have a record of excellence in research, graduate student supervision, and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. A PhD in computer science or related area is required.  Strategically important research expertise is sought, that builds on or complements existing strengths.  Applicants with a commitment to the advancement of women and minorities in computer science are a priority.

Simon Fraser University is located in metropolitan Vancouver, one of the most livable cities in the world. The School of Computing Science has recently been ranked in the top 3 in Canada as well as top 50 in the world, both in research strength and employability of students, by the Shanghai Ranking, US News, and LinkedIn. The School currently has 52 faculty members, approximately 250 PhD and M.Sc. students, and more than 1600 undergraduate majors.

University Research Associates

University Research Associate in Big Data

The School of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University invites applications for University Research Associates in the area of Big Data.  University Research Associates are expected to conduct research, supervise graduate students, and provide course instruction.

A Ph.D. in Computer Science or related area is required, with a commitment to excellence in research and teaching. The School is seeking applicants with backgrounds including cloud computing, distributed systems, machine learning, data mining, and/or predictive analytics. Experience with the processing of (and interaction with) large data sets using state-of-the-art software tools (such as Hadoop, Spark, HBase, Cassandra, leveldb) and systems (including experience with PaaS or SaaS systems) is essential.

The research associates may be required to provide instruction for CMPT 732, 733 or other courses associated with the SFU Professional Masters Program in Big Data (http://www.sfu.ca/computing/current-students/graduate-students/academic-programs/bigdata.html).
