Simon Fraser University

Overview

The Certificate in Web-Based Instruction (CWI) program is conducted entirely online in mostly asynchronous (time-delayed) format. The program has been designed for those who would like to gain new teaching skills, meet professional development requirements, or advance their teaching careers.

As an online learner, you will be able to come to class whenever it's convenient for you. Modules and projects within the program are conducted according to a schedule and you are expected to log in to read and post messages 3 times per week, but there are no "live" classes to attend. Instead, lectures, coursework, and discussions all take place at your convenience. You choose the place - at home, at school - wherever you have access to a computer, modem, and an Internet Service Provider (ISP).

During this 24-week program, you will be collaborating with other successful professionals with whom you can share ideas, debate issues and learn from each others' experience.

The CWI program employs highly qualified instructors with strong backgrounds in teaching and online learning. When they are not teaching class, our instructors are working with other online learning companies and as instructional designers, supervisors, managers, and university faculty members.
