We are excited to introduce a Resume & Cover Letter Workshop for our Ecological Restoration students this April 8th to help them with knowledge, skills, and tools required to connect with industry experts.

Why Should You Attend this Workshop?

Your resume is a snapshot of who you are, your skills, education, and experience. Your resume is a selling tool as it is the very first impression you get to make on an employer. A well-written resume does not only showcase your talent and experience in the best way possible but also leaves an employer wanting to know more. Similarly, a cover letter introduces you and your resume to an employer. A cover letter is the first document an employer sees, therefore helping you create a stellar first impression and allowing the hiring manager to understand why you are the right fit for the job.

This workshop is a perfect opportunity to improve your resume and cover letter and learn valuable job search-related skills!

What Will You Learn in this Workshop?

This workshop is taught by one of our resume & cover letter specialists, Brenda Badgero, who knows all the resume and cover letter writing tips for the Ecological Restoration job applications. Brenda is the Career Education Manager for the faculties of Applied Science, Science, Environment, and Health Sciences. Brenda is a passionate and resourceful career educator with 20+ years of experience in career development and works search field educating and guiding the university student population.

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • How to effectively customize your resume/CV and cover letter to meet the diverse needs of an organization.
  • How to present your field experiences, education, skills, and knowledge in a way that showcases your assets and uniqueness and piques employers' interest in you.
  • How to deconstruct job postings and navigate Applicant Tracking Systems [ATS].
  • How to properly organize and format your resume, and more!

What Should You Expect?

This workshop encourages learning and engagement by creating an open environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. After completing this workshop, you will know how to present your skills and talents in the best way possible. This workshop will also provide you with the necessary tools required to write a resume and cover letter that employers want to read, followed by a short Q&A with Brenda.
