Margaret Grenier and The Dancers of Damelahamid

"The Dancers of Damelahamid", is an Aboriginal dance collective from the Northwest coast of British Columbia (Royal Dakhumhast House of the Gitksan Nation ) Their dances are thousands of years old and their songs, which belong to Simoiget Hagbegwatku / Chief Kenneth Harris, retell the stories of their origins and history. Margaret Grenier's Masters thesis in Curriculum and Instruction explores the transformative practices of Gitksan dance and story and how they serve as a means for intergenerational transmission of this sacred knowledge.
