Our study found that of the twenty one features observed, eight were spatially significant at a majority of the 35 intersections audited. In other words, eight features were found to meet the 50% threshold for being significant. These features included; Long blocks, bus/streetcar stops, crosswalks, signage, number of lanes, retail, medians and exclusive turn lanes.

The points displayed in red, are pedestrian injury hotspots that were audited in this project. The points in yellow, are all of the pedestrian injury incidents that were reported between 2010-2014 in Toronto.

This map is representative of the features that we found to be significant. Larger points on this map reflect intersections with a higher number of built environment features present, and smaller points representing lower numbers of features present. Click each point for information on the number of built environment factors present.
