This project uses data provided by the The Vancouver Island CORE land Use Plan and Regional Planning hosted by Ministry of Sustainable Resource Management. There is collection of digital GIS data including Agriculture, Archaeology, Basemaps, Biogeoclimatic zones, Baseline Thematic Mapping, Clayoquot Sound, Endangered Species, Ecosections, Energy, Environmental Protection Areas, Fisheries, Fish Farm, Forestry, Wildlife Habitat, Mineral Deposits, Natural Areas, Protected Areas, Recreational Use, Regional Districts, Land Tenure, Tourism, Visual Quality and Water Feature. However, most of these data are old and their dates from approximately 1992 to more up to date. Note that data Conversion from vector data format to raster data format is needed. First, E.00 vector data file need to be imported by using ESRI function "Import 71". Then, sharp file (.shp) is extracted and can be opened by Idrisi 3.2. At the end, Idrisi can convert sharp file to raster file in one click. It is lucky that most of the data have already been converted to raster data format and can be found at the SIS lab data bank.
