Areas Suitable for Harvesting Canoe Logs
In order to carve canoes or totem poles, very large, old cedar trees are required. Access to these trees by road could be considered a positive aspect because of the difficulty in moving them over unroaded terrain. Thus the characteristics emphasized here include, tree age, tree height, and proximity to roads. Slope is also included as a factor which will determine the ability to fall trees on the site.

It should be noted that this query selects cedar trees which are tall and old. As a very tight grain of wood is required for carving tall young trees are not suitable. Download Map
