SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies Graduate Travel Awards

Archival and field research, as well as, conference presentations and attendance are an important aspect of any graduate education. The SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies, thanks to the generosity of the SNF, has set aside an annual budget to support graduate students studying aspects of Greece's history, language and culture.

What is it?

An annual fund established by the SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies to support graduate student travel, to pursue research or present at conferences.

Do I qualify?

Travel funding from the SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies is reserved for Graduate Affiliate Members of the Centre, studying some aspect of Greece's history, language and culture. Applicants are expected to exhaust funding options in their home department before applying to this fund and to seek their senior supervisor’s approval.

Applications are adjudicated based on the following criteria:

  • Overall financial need
  • Preference will be given to conferences over research trips. The latter may include, field work, archival visits, language training, etc…
  • Preference will be given to students who have not yet received a graduate travel award from the Centre during the current fiscal year

How do I apply?

Applications are accepted and awarded on a rolling basis, until the budgeted funding has been completely disbursed for the fiscal year. Applications will be considered at the next regularly scheduled Centre Advisory Committee meeting.
