Embarking on the Practice of Kilim Weaving in Geraki

During their visit to Geraki, students from UCLA, SFU, and UBC were granted a remarkable opportunity to immerse themselves in the art of kilim weaving. Under the guidance of skilled artisans, they wholeheartedly embraced the captivating process, weaving on upright looms using wool yarn.

The traditional upright looms in Geraki, served as the conduit for creating magnificent, straight rugs and kilims. Filled with enthusiasm, the students embarked on their weaving journey, eagerly absorbing the wisdom and techniques passed down through generations.

As they dedicated themselves to the craft, the students aspired to attain mastery by unraveling the intricacies of the practice and exploring the enchanting rhythm that accompanies each thread.
