Earlier this year, we lost a dear friend and colleague, Professor André Gerolymatos. André was a powerful force in the expansion of knowledge of Greek language, history and culture in the diaspora. During his 23 years at Simon Fraser University he worked tirelessly to expand the study of Greece's history, language and culture at the university. He was also the inaugural director of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Centre for Hellenic Studies.

We remember André as someone who went beyond the call of duty to support students in their quest for learning. Both in and out of the classroom, he mesmerized audiences with his storytelling and inspired many students to pursue their own study in the fields of his academic interest including, Security Studies, History, International Studies and Classical Studies.

Following a difficult summer of mourning, it was clear that the best way to honour André was to continue his efforts to support SFU students in their educational pursuits.

We are pleased to announce the establishment of the André Gerolymatos Memorial Fund as his lasting legacy. It is our hope that this fund will serve as a tribute and long-standing reminder of André's impact on the hearts and minds of students at SFU for generations to come.

We hope that you will join us in sharing this call for support. Thank you from all of us in Hellenic Studies and the greater SFU community.
