The Agora is the annual publication of the Stravros Niarchos Foundation Centre for Hellenic Studies at Simon Fraser University. Agora is the Greek word for public space. It is the place where citizens come together, where ideas and goods are exchanged, and where politics are created. This publication informs students, faculty, and the community at large who share our interest in Hellenism.

Volume 6 recounts the many events and activities of the 2017 / 2018 academic year – and there’s lots to celebrate: Read about the ground-breaking Rebooting the Greek Language project now underway in the SNF New Media Lab, thanks the generous support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation; meet our new grad students and learn about their exciting research in Greek history and archaeology; and don’t forget to check out all the great public events that happened over the year in the Centre, like the Second Annual Edward and Emily McWhinney Memorial Lecture.
