Press release

Hellenic Studies Program and SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies move to remote operations

March 17, 2020

As many of you already know, Simon Fraser University has decided to discontinue in-person instruction and exams and to transition to other modes of delivery, including online classes. Students should check their SFU email accounts and CANVAS course pages for information from their instructors about how their individual classes will be proceeding.

Even as the university moves to support the calls of provincial and federal health authorities to limit social contact, the faculty and staff of the Hellenic Studies Program and SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies remain committed to serving our community of students, alumni and supporters. However, in order to protect the health of our team, we have closed our offices, effective immediately, and moved to remote operations for the foreseeable future.

Nevertheless, even though our physical offices are closed, we are still here for you. Staff will maintain regular business hours and can be reached through email or by phone. In addition, you can find further contacts below:

  • Students looking for help with their courses or other academic affairs can contact for assistance

  • Questions or concerns about individual courses, assignments, or exams should continue to be directed to your course instructor

  • Contact information for administrative staff can be found on our People page

  • For anything else, you can reach out to or call 778-782-8466 for assistance. You can also visit our Contact page for more ways to get in touch

  • SFU has launched a COVID-19 FAQ page (updated daily) to keep our community informed with the latest information: If you can’t find an answer to your questions there, you can email

As we continue to grapple with this difficult situation, please look to SFU’s COVID-19 page for the latest updates as well the university’s social media channels. For our own part, we will also offer updates via our own social media channels and to our email subscribers as information becomes available.

In the meantime, please remember to have empathy and compassion for yourself and others.
