We have all followed the news regarding the spread of COVID-19 over the past several weeks with concern.

The SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies and Simon Fraser University have to date remained largely untouched by the outbreak, with relatively few cases in the local community, however, the same cannot be said for many of our partners and colleagues around the world. This has made it increasingly difficult for us to maintain our outreach programs, as non-essential international travel and large gatherings are curtailed.

In the past two weeks we have already had to cancel two of our planned March events as a result of travel restrictions imposed upon our guest speakers. Anticipating similar issues to arise in the coming weeks, the SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies has taken the difficult decision to cancel the remaining two of our events for the Spring semester. Even though the overall health risk remains low, given heightened concerns, a steadily evolving situation, and the fact that one of those two events involved an out-of-town speaker, this decision seems only prudent. See below for the full list.

We hope to be able to reschedule our events in the fall, when hopefully, the situation will have stabilized. Please continue to follow our newsfeed and social media for announcements or subscribe to our email list for updates.

As the situation continues to develop, we urge our community to follow the instructions of local medical and government authorities.
