We are delighted to have formally launched the new Pacific Water Research Centre during the 6th annual meeting of the Canadian Water Summit, held in Vancouver from June 24-26, 2015.

The Centre builds on exemplary water research already underway at SFU. Working with a diverse group of community partners, our researchers link science with local knowledge to inform policy. The new Centre provides a home base to encourage stronger coordination and collaboration amongst those researchers and community partners, just as it offers new avenues for further growth.

There are certainly many water centres and institutes in Canada, each offering value to the study of water challenges. After speaking to a number of colleagues, as well as Summit participants, it is clear to me that the Pacific Water Research Centre is unique in a number of ways. We invite community members, academics from SFU and other educational institutions, industry stakeholders and students to join us in advancing water research in distinctive and significant ways.

We look forward to working with you!
