Conference explores social responsibility

Sustainability experts and senior executives from around the world participated in a joint SFU Business-Schulich School of Business conference on sustainable enterprises, held at the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue in October, 2003.

The four-day forum explored how companies can be both sustainable and profitable. The seminar provided insights into trends, drivers and opportunities for sustainable business; business models for sustainable and profitable corporations; and changing management techniques for transforming corporate culture toward sustainability.

Companies interested in achieving a triple bottom line – one that satisfies profits, people and the planet – need leaders with energy, enthusiasm, dedication and perseverance, says Carolyn Egri, an associate professor of management and organization studies with SFU Business. Egri has done extensive research into leadership and environmental sustainability.
