President Michael Stevenson cut the ribbon on the new office of francophone and francophile affairs (OFFA) in 2005, securing SFU’s role as a bastion of French culture and post-secondary education in Western Canada. Yolande Grisé, OFFA’s newly appointed director, has made it her first goal to triple the number of students enrolled in B.C.’s first fully bilingual degree program—a bachelor of arts in public administration and community services which consists of a major in political science and an extended minor in French.
