November 16, 2010

Time: 10:00AM–12:00PM

2010-11 Seminar Series #3 - Rolf Matthews

Using plants for the investigation of legal isues is an underutilized forensic technique, but has been successfully applied in many different contexts.

After an introduction to the principles of forensic botany, I will discuss a variety of cases, including local murder investigations in which I have been involved. A current interest of mine is in developing pollen analysis as a forensic tool, and I will discuss the potential of this microscopic approach.
