Mark LaLonde
Chief Safety Officer

Mark LaLonde is the Chief Safety Officer for SFU. In this role he provides strategic leadership to the five service units in SRS. In addition to responsibility for management of these areas, he is responsible for providing senior executives with expert advice on a wide range of operational and strategic issues. He also gives strategic leadership in reviewing and developing practices, policies, and procedures that improve efficiencies and continuity of service delivery.

Steven MacLean
Senior Director, Campus Safety & Security Services

Steven provides leadership for the public safety, resource protection and access control operations of the Campus Safety & Security Services department at SFU.  Working with a cadre of academic support professionals, all specializing in public safety within the higher education environment, Steve and his team facilitate crime prevention and personal safety programs, incident response, investigations, and the deployment of security technology to ensure that SFU continues to be a safe place to live, work and learn.

Laura MacDonald
Senior Director, Administration & Strategic Growth

Laura provides collaborative leadership for the development and delivery of the Safety & Risk Services strategic plan. In addition, Laura is responsible for providing direction regarding policies and programs related to violence, personal safety, threat and risk assessment, and violence in the workplace. Along with her team, Laura provides support for new programs and initiatives across Safety & Risk Services and leads the comprehensive communication plan for the SRS portfolio.

Melinda Skura
Senior Director, Environmental Health & Research Safety

Melinda leads the development and delivery of Environmental Health & Research Safety programs, policies and services at the University. Melinda and her team of health & safety professionals work collaboratively with safety committees, academic, research and administrative units to develop policies and programs, support program implementation, and monitor programs for effectiveness and compliance with relevant legislation.
