Learning to Listen: Music Theory for Non-Musicians CA 105 (3)

Through listening-based analysis, students will unpack popular songs to gain an understanding of topics like instrumentation, musical structure, harmony, rhythm, melody, and style. Tools such as Western staff and rhythmic notation will be introduced as means to support listening-based/aural analysis, however all assessments will be based on listening rather than writing. Students with credit for CA 104 may not take this course for further credit.
