Justice, War, and Power IS 404 (4)

Examines ethical debates about the use of military force. Evaluates contending approaches, including realism, just war theory, and various forms of pacifism. Explores issues such as ecocide; the ethical challenges posed by nuclear weapons; militarism’s impact on democracy; and, the ethical implications of AI and drone technology in war. Prerequisite: 45 units. Students with credit for IS 409 under the title "Justice, War and Power" may not take this course for further credit.
