Process Design and Separation Engineering in Sustainable Energy Systems SEE 467 (3)

Combines chemical engineering theory in sustainable process design; including, mass and energy balances, thermodynamics, kinetics, ionic equilibria, with applied design topics; including: equipment sizing, process simulation and intensification, automation, process flow diagrams, hazards studies. Team projects explore process design in sustainable energy systems, carbon capture and environmental remediation processes. Prerequisite: CHEM 121 (or an equivalent CHEM course, subject to approval from the course instructor), SEE 224, and SEE 225. Students with credit for SEE 475 under the titles "Process Design in Sustainable Energy Systems" or "Carbon Capture Engineering" may not take this course for further credit.
