The Vice-President, Academic and Provost serves as the senior academic officer for Simon Fraser University.

Primary objectives of the Vice-President, Academic and Provost are to resource and support an outstanding education for SFU students and to provide a productive research environment for Faculty by:

  • Attracting and supporting the best students;
  • Recruiting and retaining faculty who are outstanding teachers and researchers;
  • Supporting excellence and innovation in academic programs;
  • Promoting excellence in research, scholarship and teaching;
  • Responding to community needs for education and research.

The Vice-President, Academic and Provost provides vision and leadership for the academic activities of SFU’s:

  • three campuses
  • eight Faculties
  • Lifelong Learning
  • the Office of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Fellows
  • Student Services

The current Vice-President, Academic and Provost is Dr. Peter Keller.

After a seven year, comprehensive and rigorous process, SFU is the first Canadian research university to be granted accreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). Accreditation provides added recognition for SFU’s commitment to excellence and the quality of its programs, particularly in the international arena.

Dr. Jon Driver announces the appointment of Dr. Eugene Fiume as our next Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, effective January 1, 2017.
