Volunteer at Convocation and welcome SFU's newest alumni
Do you remember your Convocation day and the people who helped make it a memorable experience? This October, you have an opportunity to pay it forward.
SFU is looking for alumni volunteers to support graduates during fall Convocation ceremonies on October 8 and 9 at the Burnaby campus. It is a small commitment that can make a big difference on one of the most important days in a student's university journey.
Many alumni remember the excitement, nerves and anticipation they felt on Convocation day. Volunteering is a meaningful way to reconnect with campus, celebrate the next generation of graduates and help create a positive experience for students and their families.
As a volunteer, you'll help graduands pin their degree hoods to their regalia before the ceremony, offering a friendly face and helping them feel confident and ready to cross the stage. No experience required. Here is a video on how to pin—don’t worry, you’ll receive guidance and training on the day you volunteer, and SFU staff and other volunteers will be on hand throughout your shift to provide support.
Volunteer shifts available:
- Thursday, October 8
- 7:45-9:15 a.m.
- 12:30-2:15 p.m.
- Friday, October 9
- 7:45-9:15 a.m.
- 12:30-2:15 p.m.
Whether you can join us for one shift or two, we'd love to have your support.
