Aidan Gough is a highly driven and passionate student leader. He is a strong community advocate and cares deeply about making institutions be fair and equitable to its constituents.
Aidan grew up in Lima, Peru, and now resides in Burnaby, BC, where he attends SFU. He is culminating his bachelor’s degree in political science, with a minor in legal studies. After his BA, Aidan intends to attend law school, and obtain a JD, with aspirations of practicing in public law, and work in public service.
Aidan serves on the Board of Governors at Simon Fraser University as the elected undergraduate student member. For as long as he has been a part of SFU, he has immersed himself in various levels of governance throughout the university. Aidan is currently Co-President of the Political Science Student Union (PSSU), Councillor for the Simon Fraser Student Society, and a re-elected undergraduate student senator. Within all roles, Aidan has been committed to elevating the voice of his fellow peers and delivering on equity-driven results. For his work, Aidan has been awarded with the SFSS Most Engaged Councillor award, SFSS Best Union award (PSSU), as well as with the 2025 Gunraj Gill Memorial Award in Political Science.
Aidan is currently a Political Analyst at the Iran War Observatory, housed under the SFU Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies (CCMS), in which he authors weekly strategic briefs tracking diplomatic and geopolitical developments with a dedicated focus on Canadian foreign policy implications.
Beyond SFU, Aidan has been deeply involved in political campaigning at the provincial and federal levels. In his free time, you will find Aidan outside, running, and hiking.
