  • Wellways Limited Australia is a charity support organization that was established in 1978. Its services include resources for mental health, disability, and community care.  Wellways National partners include National Disability Insurance Act, Australian Government Department of Social Services, Karralika, etc. 
  • Offers a Help Line run by peers (people who have lived experience with mental health issues. The Line provides information about mental illness and recovery, short term support, links to support groups and educational programs, etc. The Help Line is available Monday-Friday from 9 am-9 pm excluding Holidays. 

    Kids Help Line - https://kidshelpline.com.au

  • Created since 1991, receives funding from yourtown Art Union supporters, Federal and State governments, as well as corporate sponsorships and donors. 
  • Phone line for kids (5-12), teens (13-17), young adults (18-25), parents and teachers, also offers WebChat live counselling. 
  • Offers a guide on stress and anxiety specifically tailored to COVID-19, a safe online support group

  • Funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Health and is delivered by On the Line. 
  • A national 24/7 telehealth provider that offers free and professional phone and online counselling for people in Australia. 
  • Also offers online counselling through a membership with the organization for those who are 15 and older.

  • A telephone Help Line Created by the Ministry of Health in 2019. Provides assistance and advice for those experiencing emotional difficulties or thinking about suicide. Provides information on ways to get mental health services in the country, either by ‘walk in’ or appointment. 

Canada:

    Kuu-US Crisis Line and 24hr Crisis Mobile Outreach Services

  • Kuu-US Crisis Line provides support to callers within the Port Alberni area as well as Aboriginals throughout the Province of British Columbia. Its aim is to establish a non-judgmental approach to listening and problem solving. 
  • Outreach provides one on one support for traumatic incidences. 
  • Outreach is funded by BC Gaming Policy & Enforcement Branch.

  • Free, confidential support services for post-secondary students in Ontario. Created prior to COVID-19, first launched in 2013. Funded by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. 
  • Offers the oppourtunity to talk to counsellors through 2 different helplines (Crisis Text Line and receive counselling/mental health referrals through the Good2Talk Helpline.

    Reason to Live Manitoba Suicide and Prevention and Support Line https://reasontolive.ca

  • Reason to Live is funded by Province of Manitoba and the Winnipeg Suicide Prevention Network, as well as a program of Klinic Community Health. 
  • Confidential, toll free, 24/7 crisis line trained by crisis counsellors from Klinic Community Health (an accredited Crisis Centre) 

    Connex Ontario – https://www.connexontario.ca/information-services

  • Aims to offer basic education and support for addiction, mental health, and problem gambling treatment services’ for Ontarians. Connex is funded by the Government of Ontario. 
  • Offers a 24/7, free, Help Line or an online chat platform through their website. 

Chile:

  • Free and confidential phone help line for children between 8:30 am – 7:00 pm M-F. Belongs to Integra Foundation.
  • Psychological interventions whose vision is based on the Ecological Model and which bases its actions on the Rights, Parental Competences Model, Crisis Intervention, Bond, Psychoeducation and Networking approach.

  • Created by the Ministerio de la Mujer y la Equidad de Género 
  • Offered a phone helpline for female victims of violence in 2019, phone line is attended by specialists in violence who provide help to all women who suffer or witness physical and/or psychological abuse. 
  • Aim is to support women and inform women about their rights, complaint processes/services, Women’s Centres, and help offered by the National Service for Women and Gender Equity.

  • Offers free and confidential service that is available 24 hrs/day for people affected by substance abuse, their family and friends through a telephone helpline. 
  • Offers guides on intervention in crisis situations and guides on the different treatment alternatives existing in the country.

Mexico:

  • Service dedicated to the care and promotion of mental health (through phone and social network). 
  • Also can refer to online virtual counselling services with psychologists and psychiatrists 

 

Philippines

NCMH Crisis Hotline: National Centre for Mental Health (NCMH) https://www.doh.gov.ph/NCMH-Crisis-Hotline

  • 24/7 mental health crisis phone service operated by the Department of Health through NCMH to prevent suicide and address mental health challenges through psychological first aid and processing as well as a referral portal. 

Singapore:

    Samaritans of Singapore - https://www.sos.org.sg

  • Non-religious, not-for-profit organization that aims to support individuals facing a crisis, thinking about, or affected by suicide. 
  • Offers a 24-hour hotline in Singapore with trained volunteers available to talk, email services for mental health inquiries, as well as text messaging by trained volunteers over Facebook available for those under mental distress 

Malaysia:

    Befrienders https://www.befrienders.org.my

  • Befrienders is a not-for-profit organization based in Kuala Lumpur. Was created in 1970 with the help of psychologists and psychiatrists from the University Hospital Kuala Lumpur. 
  • Offers free and confidential emotional support 24/7 through a suicide helpline for those who are lonely, in distress, or having suicidal thoughts.

  • Life Line was created on 1963 in Australia, in 1989 Malaysia created a preparatory committee to plan the establishment of Malaysia’s own lifeline.

  • Offers free consultation services over the phone and through email with professionally trained volunteers. Also uses a supervision team (started in 2002) to assist volunteer with their service potential and improve service quality. 

    Women’s Aid Organization (Pertubuhan Pertolongan Wanita) https://wao.org.my/our-services/

  • WAO set up Malaysia’s first domestic shelter in 1982. WAO is a Core Humanitarian Standard member working towards creditation. 
  • Offers a 24/7 hotline and What’sApp TINA (Think I Need Aid) messaging for survivors of domestic violence, rape, and other forms of violence. 

Thailand:

  • Samaritans is an international organization, it was first established in 1953 and was founded in 1978 by Dr. Udom Silpa. The organization is also known as Befreinders Worldwide (BW)
  • Offers a Help Line to prevent suicide. Samaritan volunteers are from a variety of different positions/careers. 

United States:

  • Founded in 2014, has a board of directors. Offers grassroots hotline (877-565-8860) in English and Spanish to provide peer support and questioning callers. Also operates along with ID Clinics and programs that assist with name changes
