John is earthquake seismologist and geophysicist with research interests in all aspects of earthquake hazard studies to help mitigate the impact of future earthquakes in Canada. Current research activities include: mapping movement along faults; mapping the earthquake-generating stress-field; obtaining more accurate earthquake locations; studying what controls local variations in earthquake ground shaking; and mapping earth structure using earthquake waves (with applications to resource evaluations).
