COALESCE Featured in UBC Dialogue on Aging Presentation Series
COALESCE was featured as part of the University of British Columbia Edwin S.H. Leong Centre for Healthy Aging’s Dialogue on Aging Public Presentation Series, where Dr. Mei Fang delivered a virtual presentation titled “Building Climate Resilience with Older Adults: Insights from the COALESCE Project.”
The presentation explored how climate change is impacting older adults across Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, and highlighted how the COALESCE project is working alongside older adults as co-researchers to better understand climate-related challenges and identify practical, community-driven solutions.
During the session, attendees learned about:
Experiences and stories shared by COALESCE participants
Strategies for responding to extreme heat and air quality concerns
The use of home environmental monitoring tools
Opportunities for older adults to participate in climate and aging research
The importance of social connection and community resilience
Hosted in collaboration with Providence Health Care, the Dialogue on Aging series brings together researchers, community members, and older adults to discuss topics related to healthy aging and wellbeing. The Fall 2025 series focused on climate change and aging, drawing strong interest from attendees across the region.
The COALESCE team is grateful for the opportunity to share the project’s ongoing work and to contribute to broader conversations around climate resilience, healthy aging, and Age-Friendly Communities.
