Diane Finegood Fellowship Announcement June 2018
SFU’s Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Diane T. Finegood as a Fellow in Health and Wellness.
Prof. Finegood is an internationally recognized leader in health research and recently completed a 5-year term as the President and CEO of the Michael Smith Foundation.
She served as the inaugural Scientific Director of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes (2000-2008). Prof. Finegood’s early career focused on the pathogenesis of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, while her interests in recent years have been on knowledge translation and implementation, systems thinking, and cross sector partnership. Since returning to SFU in 2017, she has been seconded to the Centre for Dialogue where she developed a new Semester in Dialogue on the complexity of health and wellness.
Prof. Finegood’s Fellowship at the Centre will explore the application of systems thinking to complex challenges in health care and public health.
This work will be driven by the needs of local, regional and national community partners and will rely on approaches drawn from complex systems methods, collective impact frameworks, and the science of implementation. As a Fellow she will also explore the intersections of these domains with the theories, methods and tools of a dialogic approach.
