Tune in for the Centre's COP27 Programming in Egypt
The Centre’s Cities and Climate and International Climate Engagement Network teams will be participating in the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt this month.
The annual international meeting brings together the 197 Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Following the work from COP26 in Glasgow, UK, the Egyptian presidency has structured COP27 with a focus on implementation, aiming at mobilizing collective efforts for ambitious emission reductions from different sectors, enhanced transformative adaptation agenda on the ground, enabling flows of appropriate finance and delivering on the ground on time and at scale.
The International Climate Engagement Network will be participating in this events:
Social Innovation for Just Transition: Protecting the Vulnerable and Advancing Climate Justice
Meeting the climate crisis sustainably involves addressing climate justice and just transition. Adaptation and mitigation actions must be fair and equitable—mindful of widening socio-economic gaps and protecting the most vulnerable communities at greatest risk. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to create social innovation for a just transition and climate resilience, with climate justice as the compass pointing towards ways of creating greater solidarity and equality across society. Panelists and event participants will share their experience, successes and struggles in the field, and explore ways to develop further collaboration and impact.
