Graduate Programs

Graduate studies at SFU Engineering are designed to develop advanced theoretical and applied technical knowledge. SFU offers a leading high-tech program supported by world-renowned faculty and outstanding research facilities.

Programs

The School of Engineering Science offers two distinct Master's degrees, Master of Engineering (MEng), or Master of Applied Science (MASc) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). In addition, for current undergraduate students in the School of Engineering Science, we offer an accelerated master's BASc-MASc program.

MASc and PhD are research-based programs where students identify a Supervisor to work on an area of research towards to a thesis.

MEng is a course-based program where students take courses towards to teh degree. Research opportunities are available for MEng students by taking Directed Studies courses and/or MEng Project.

Masters of Engineering (MEng)

The Masters of Engineering (MEng) in Engineering Science is a full-time course based program research-intensive program allowing students to take courses in areas like biomedical engineering, computer engineering, system engineering, communicaiton networking and more.

Master of Applied Science (MASc)

The Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Engineering Science is a  is a research-intensive program that has a primary emphasis on the thesis. The program provides an environment for interdisciplinary education in theoretical and applied Engineering Science.

Concentrations

We currently do not have specialties or concentrations. However, graduate studies at the School of Engineering Science can be done in any of the main program areas with respect to our Research Areas.
