President

Paige is in her fifth year of the applied biology stream and has finally completed her co-op requirements. When not in class or at work, she can be found enjoying the outdoors, trying to learn a new instrument, or reading. When she graduates, she hopes to travel abroad for work and see where her studies take her!

Secretary

Rhea has been serving as secretary of the EVSCSU for over a year now. She moved from Zambia to Canada for university a year ago and has been enjoying the beauty of British Columbia since. In terms of interests, she is a huge Potterhead, is obsessed with the band Queen, and hounds anybody with the slightest interest in science to listen to the Ologies podcast. She spent the fall of 2023 on a co-op working at Inlailawatash as a GIS Technician and is exploring the different career options available to an EVSC degree holder.

Although she's a Biology major, Brianna is excited to start her minor in Environmental Science and her involvement in the EVSCSU!  A lover of animals, 70s music and nerd culture, she hopes to expand her interests by taking up bird watching and volunteering with local nature societies. Brianna hopes to pursue a career in either education or ecology, and hopes to get field experience working directly with wildlife. She is super excited to meet new people and enjoy all the new experiences coming her way!

 

Chloe Ross

Co-Interdepartmental Representative

Chloe is in her 4th year of the Environmental Earth Systems Stream, and is also working on an honors thesis studying sediment dynamics in bedrock canyons of the Fraser River. Passionate about environmental education and communication, she often works with high-school age students on topics such as climate change and ecological grief. In her free time Chloe enjoys climbing and reading fantasy books. After completing three co-op terms working in the Faculty of Environment’s Dean’s Office, Chloe often applies what she learnt to her role as Interdepartmental rep!

Webmaster/Co-Treasurer 

Olivia is in her third year of the Environmental Earth Systems concentration and is loving serving as webmaster and co-treasurer. Like most of the other members she loves spending time outdoors, and as a Guider to Pathfinders it's definitely her second home. Besides outdoor activities, Olivia enjoys doing anything crafty and spending time with her dog. She spent her summer in co-op doing research on groundwater and frogs in the Delta Nature Reserve as well as hosting invasive species pulls.

Grayson Barke

Council Representative

Grayson recently transferred into Environmental Science’s Applied Biology program and hopes to join the College of Applied Biologists after graduating. He volunteers with the City of Coquitlam’s Sustainability and Environmental Advisory Committee and is always looking out for opportunities to discuss environmental concerns with policymakers. When he’s not on campus, Grayson enjoys spending time with his family in the many parks and natural spaces our region is blessed with.

Samuel Lee

Samuel Lee

Co-Event Coordinator/Co-Interdepartmental Representative

Samuel is in his second year at SFU and is in the Environmental Earth Systems Concentration. Passionate in politics, transit, and urban planning, Samuel takes a keen involvement in them. Outside of SFU and the EVSCSU, Samuel is a long-time member of the British Columbia Youth Parliament where he seeks to mentor young leaders across the province and teach the necessity of collaborative debate within legislative bodies and policymaking. In his free time, Samuel likes to bird watch and play strategy and simulation video games.

If you’re enrolled in an EVSC course, or are in the EVSC program, all you have to do is show up to one of our meetings to be involved! If you’d like to become an executive team member and play a key roll in our student union, we hold elections for executive roles at our first meeting of the Fall and Spring semester.
