2021 - SFU ranked among world's top 50 universities in Times Higher Education Impact Rankings

In 2021, Simon Fraser University ranked among the world’s top 50 universities for its commitment to sustainability, according to Times Higher Education’s 2021 University Impact Rankings. The rankings measured contributions to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and an SFU News Story noted that SFU Public Square’s community engagement work during the COVID-19 pandemic played a part in SFU ranking #5 in ‘Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions’ (Sustainable Development Goal 16).

2019 MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship
Honourable Mention

The MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship was established by the Talloires Network and the MacJannet Foundation to recognize exceptional student community-engagement initiatives at Talloires Network member universities, and contributes financially to their ongoing public service efforts. The 2019 Honourable Mention The mention acknowledges SFU Public Square’s work in civic engagement through programming such as its annual Community Summit.

Excellence and Merit Winner in Community Relations

The Gold Quill Awards, established by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), have recognized and awarded excellence in strategic communication worldwide. In 2016, Re-Imagine Downtown Vancouver – a partnership with the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association to inspire new ideas for the future of the city – was announced as one of the Excellence and Merit winners in the Community Relations category.
