Leith Davis, SFU English students, and musicians wow crowd at 2022 B.C. Highland Games

SFU Research Centre for Scottish Studies Director Professor Leith Davis, along with SFU English students and musical friends, drew a crowd and applause at the 2022 British Columbia Highland Games.

Professor Davis, Shauna Irani, Emma Trotter, and Julianna Wagar, gave a talk about The Lyon in Mourning manuscript, and specifically the female rebels of the 1745 Jacobite Rising. Watch Professor Davis' introduction to the talk below.

Musicians Sheila Allan (fiddle), Scott Alpen (bodhran), and Rob McGregor (guitar) complemented the event with music. In this clip, Professor Davis discusses "The Tartan Ladies" and the musicians play two dance tunes "The Tattie Ball" and "When are you comin' over?"
