As a presenter, you're invited to take part in several workshops to prepare for your presentation. The skills you learn in these workshops can also be applied to your future research and careers.

Writing an Academic Abstract Date: Wednesday, January 21, 2026 1:30pm-2:30pm In this workshop, the Student Learning Commons will provide an overview of the writing conventions specific to academic abstracts and support you to start writing your own. |

Creating UGRS Conference Posters and Presentations: Communicating your Research with Style and Clarity Date: Tuesday March 10, 2026 - 1:15pm to 2:45pm This workshop will focus on tips and tricks for research poster layout, design, and content using the 2026 UGRS template, which is a version of the #betterposter template. We will also discuss strategies for clear, effective, and concise research communication that will serve you in creating both posters and presentations for the 2026 Undergraduate Research Symposium. |

Presenting your Personal Best: Prep for Symposium Panelists Date: Monday March 23, 2026 - 10:30am to 12pm Yay! You were selected as a symposium panelist! Now what? Join us for some presentation tips for the brief symposium panel format. The focus of the session will be to provide you with a safe space to practice presentation skills – whether or not you have your draft presentation prepared - and supportive, encouraging feedback. If you are unable to attend the full 90-minute session, you are welcome to attend part of it. |

It is a great compliment to the other series of Presentation Skills videos. Originally presented to the CMNS 432 class, the skills taught are applicable to any presentation. |
