Details:

• ERC Starting Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they are starting their own independent research team or programme. Applicant Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their scientific proposal.
• ERC grants support projects carried out by an individual researcher who can employ researchers of any nationality as team members. It is also possible to have one or more team members located in a non-European country.

Details:

• This award recognizes the world’s top scientists who have made a major impact on Global Health. This award is science-focused, and is not intended for those with primarily leadership and administrative accomplishments. Posthumous or self-nominations are not accepted.
• Recipients are expected to participate in the National Program that takes place across Canada.

• By nomination only. Academics from abroad, regardless of their discipline or nationality, may be nominated. The Foundation particularly encourages the nomination of qualified female academics.

• The nominee's future perspectives must indicate that she/he will continue to be an active, academically influential researcher in the coming years.
• Detailed expert opinion by an academic working at a research institution in Germany who would like to invite the nominee to spend time researching in Germany.

Details:

• The award is granted in recognition of a researcher's entire achievements to date to academics whose fundamental discoveries, new theories, or insights have had a significant impact on their own discipline and who are expected to continue producing cutting-edge achievements in the future.
• Award winners are invited to spend a period of up to 1 year cooperating on a long-term research project with specialist colleagues at a research institution in Germany. The stay may be divided up into blocks.
• Nominations may be submitted online by established academics in Germany. Nominations may also be initiated by award winners of the Humboldt Foundation working abroad, provided that the nomination is made jointly with a colleague working in Germany. Direct applications are not accepted.

• Applicants must be scholars who received their Ph.D. or equivalent within 10 years of the proposed start date of the fellowship.
• Applicants must hold a position outside the United States of America at the time of application, to which they are expected to return at the conclusion of the fellowship.
• Fellowships will be awarded to candidates who have already demonstrated outstanding scholarly achievement and exhibit unusual intellectual promise but are still at the beginning of their careers.
• All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Details:

• Fellows must be in residence in Princeton during the academic year of their fellowship (September 1 - June 30) so that they can interact with one another and participate actively in the program’s seminars and other events on campus. Fellows are also expected to present their ongoing projects in seminars organized by the program.
• There are no teaching requirements.
• Program topic changes each year. Scholars whose work addresses the program topic in any historical period or world region and from any disciplinary background are invited to apply.

Details:

• The Wilson Center invites scholars, practitioners, journalists and public intellectuals to take part in its flagship international Fellowship Program. Fellows conduct research and write in their areas of interest, while interacting with policymakers in Washington and Wilson Center staff and other scholars in residence.  The Center accepts policy-relevant, non-advocacy fellowship proposals that address key challenges confronting the United States and the world.
• Fellows are expected to be in residence for the entire U.S. academic year (early September through May). Occasionally, fellowships are awarded for shorter periods, with a minimum of four months.

• The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation fellowships provide support from an outstanding community of scholars, fellows and mentors, and opportunities for interaction with 350 leaders and personalities in every sector of the humanities and social sciences; involvement in lively exchanges with other researchers and policy makers; and the opportunity to contribute to public dialogue and share innovative ideas at events organized by or in conjunction with the Foundation.
• Candidates to the regular Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation fellowship are researchers who have set themselves apart through their capacity to propose creative solutions to important issues and their ability to inform public debate beyond the academic sphere.

• The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation enables highly-qualified scientists and scholars from abroad, who completed their doctorates less than twelve years ago to spend extended periods of research (6-18 months; may be divided up into a maximum of three blocks) in Germany.

Details:

• Fernand Braudel Senior Fellowships provide a framework for established academics with an international reputation to pursue their research at the EUI. Fellows are encouraged to make contact with researchers sharing their academic interests, may be involved in the teaching and thesis supervision tasks of EUI professors, and associated with one of the research projects being carried out at the EUI.
• Fellowships last for up to ten months.
• Fellows must live in Florence for the duration of the fellowship so that they can take an active part in the academic activities of their Department.

• Only candidates with more than five years of research experience after their PhD may apply for a Senior Research Fellowship position.
• Applicants need to indicate the particular Research Cluster to which they are applying. In cases where there may be overlapping research interests, applicants may list up to a maximum of two clusters.

Details:

• Senior Research Fellows and Research Fellows at ARI will work under the supervision of the Cluster Leader and shall take the lead on duties such as organizing workshops and conferences, applying for grant funding, participating in current cluster projects, and carrying out new projects. Administrative duties such as mentoring early career researchers and committee work may be assigned to you from time to time.
• Appointment is tenable for a period of two years in the first instance, with the possibility of a second term of two years based upon evaluation and funding availability (i.e. up to a total of four years).

Details:

• Visiting Senior Research Fellows at ARI are appointed to undertake their own research and to contribute to the Institute’s collective research efforts through supporting the work of the cluster where they are based. We particularly encourage VSRFs to support early career researchers at ARI through mentoring and the sharing of their expertise and experiences.
• Visiting staff at ARI should participate actively in research activities including attendance at seminars, conferences and ARI social events. Visiting staff will be required to give a seminar(s) and are encouraged to submit a working paper to the ARI Working Paper Series, and are also required to acknowledge ARI in publications arising from their period at ARI.

Eligibility:

• Applicants must be of non-Japanese nationality.
• Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (Doctorate) degree, or be recognized by MIF as possessing equivalent academic qualifications.
• Applicants must be 49 years old or under.
• Applicants must have sufficient conversational ability in English or Japanese to prevent insurmountable difficulties during their research activities in Japan.
• Applicants should not have been in Japan in the past and/or in the present.
• Applicants should have firm positions and professions in their home countries, and should return to their countries on completion of their fellowship stay by MIF.
• Applicants must be of sound health and not physically handicapped in any way which would not prevent from carrying out research in Japan.

Details:

• Fields of study such as natural science, engineering and medicine are given first priority.
• Applicants are free to select host institutions (university research laboratories, national research institutions or the corresponding facilities of private industry). However, applicants are cautioned that they are obliged to obtain acceptance from such host institutions prior to submitting their applications.

Eligibility:

• Candidates for Fellowships will hold a doctorate or equivalent professional qualification. Consideration will be given to the academic record and the publications of all applicants and their capacity to disseminate their views among a community of like-minded people.
• A minimum of two and a maximum of three supporting statements are required.
• Candidates will be expected to have been in communication with the member of SSPS staff with whom they intend to collaborate before applying, and to name the SSPS collaborator/mentor in their application. One of the supporting statements must be from the member of SPS staff with whom the applicant wishes to collaborate.

Details:

• The IASH-SSPS Visiting Fellowships are intended to encourage outstanding interdisciplinary research, international scholarly collaboration, and networking activities of Visiting Research Fellows together with academics in the School of Social and Political Science (SSPS). Fellows will be expected to work in collaboration with one or more members of SSPS academic staff, and to take an active part in IASH interdisciplinary events.
• During the course of their stay in Edinburgh, IASH-SSPS Visiting Research Fellows will be expected to make two seminar presentations on their research – one at IASH and one in SSPS – and to take part in IASH work-in-progress sessions and relevant seminars in SSPS.
• Fellows are expected to be resident in Edinburgh throughout the tenure of their Fellowship and to play a full part in the activities of IASH and SSPS. These fellowships are usually for a duration of one semester (3-4 months), and not less than 2 months.
• No teaching is required.

• Applicants can work on any subject area in the following disciplines: archaeology, architecture, classics, dance, film/video, history, landscape architecture, literature, music, philosophy, theater, and visual arts.

Details:

• During their month long stay at the Center, Bogliasco Fellows are provided with living quarters (bedroom with private bath), full board, and a separate private studio in one of the three villas. All meals are shared, and every evening, Fellows come together for a formal dinner featuring typical cuisine from the Liguria region, such as focaccia, pesto, local produce, cheese and wines.
• The duration is one month.
• Fellows will remain at the Study Center in Italy for the duration of their residencies.
