Patti Gully and Songyu Lin will talk about how Sisters of Heaven: China's Barnstorming Aviatrixes was introduced to China and enthusiastically received by Chinese readers, with a film adaptation on the way.

Patti Gully 帕蒂 哥莉,  Writer and Historian

Patti Gully is an independent researcher and writer living in Vancouver and Manitoba. Her interest in Chinese aviation history has resulted in several books including Sisters of Heaven: China's Barnstorming Aviatrixes: Modernity, Feminism, and Popular Imagination in Asia and the West (2007), which was translated into Chinese 飛天名媛:中國第一代女飛行家三人傳 (Huacheng, 2012), and is currently being adapted into a film. Her most recent book about a Chinese-American aviator, Time Flies: The Biography of Art Lym, has also been published in China: 時光飛逝 : 中國空軍先驅林福元傳  (Huacheng, 2013).

Songyu Lin 林宋瑜 is Senior editor of Flowercity (Huacheng) Publishing House, and directs their translation department. She is also a prolific literary critic and has taught at the School of Humanities, Yunnan University.
