Open to the public free of charge, the Simon Fraser University Gallery operates two separate exhibition spaces, as well as managing the University's collection of some 5,000 art objects. The main gallery space on the Burnaby Campus has been operating since the university opened its doors in 1965.

The SFU Gallery, Burnaby Campus:

The main SFU Gallery is located on a major thoroughfare on campus, with thousands of people—mainly students—walking past the Gallery every day. A typical exhibition will be seen by 8,000 people. Therefore, the programming aims to ensure that exhibitions are, as often as possible, of interest to the students at SFU. The main SFU Gallery has a broad and inclusive mandate, showing work in all media, and, while focusing on the contemporary, also accommodating historical exhibitions. Artwork from the Vancouver area usually predominates, but each year, art from other areas of Canada and other continents is also incorporated into the program.

The Teck Gallery, SFU Vancouver campus:

The Teck Gallery is on the ground floor of the Vancouver Campus at 515 West Hastings Street. This space consists of two opposing walls of
30 feet each. The program here focuses on artwork relating to social and environmental issues.
