Kitchen

SFU Childcare strives to provide quality lunches and snacks for our children.

We provide one vegetarian meal each week and each program has the ability to request and provide fresh fruits, vegetables, and grain products weekly.

Note on food allergies and sensitivities:

Some children have specific food allergies or intolerances such as nut and dairy food products.
Although SFU Childcare tries to be responsive to these situations, we ask that you be aware of the following:

  • Our food suppliers cannot make a guarantee to be nut/dairy, etc. free
  • We are not able to meet each child’s individual needs with a single kitchen serving over 200 children
  • We cannot fully monitor individual parents/families who may bring problematic food into childcare facilities without being aware of other children's allergies or sensitivities to those foods
  • Children eat together during snack and meal times, which means isolating foods is very challenging for the educators even while being vigilant

Weekly menus are posted here to assist with family meal planning and alert parents to potential food sensitivities in meal plans for the week.  If you are not comfortable with the food provided, you are welcome to bring your own snacks/meals for your child. Please discuss this with the educators in your child's program.
