Spur Vancouver: Quantified Culture, May 24

May 24, 2014

In the data age, every book you read, TV show you watch and movie you see feeds into the spreadsheets of companies such as Netflix and Amazon. Their data scientists “know” what makes a hit and have started creating programming like House of Cards based on the data metrics they think are important. Spur, in partnership with SFU Public Square, invites the cultural data practitioners to discuss their craft with Salon’s Andrew Leonard, Assistant Professor of English and Director of the Maker Lab in the Humanities Jentery Sayers, and the Globe and Mail’s Marsha Lederman.
