City Shapers

About City Shapers

City Shapers was a cohort-based education program for young adutls between 18 and 30 from across Metro Vancouver to learn about civic engagement and how cities work. City Shapers aimed to strengthen our commitment to Canadian democracy by developing young adults' sense of agency at the local level and increasing their understanding of how government works so that they may become more active in their communities and throughout government decision-making processes.

An arms-length evaluation by SFU Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue's Strengthening Canadian Democracy Initiative explored pariticpant opinions on the program's strengths and weaknesses and its impacts on their engagement and opinions of democracy.

The program was a partnership between the SFU Morris J.Wosk Centre for Diallogue's Strengthening Canadian Democracy initiative and CityHive, with support from the Vancouver Foundation.
