On December 6th, 2021, Simon Fraser University’s Department of English and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences welcomed Dionne Brand, Canisia Lubrin, and Christina Sharpe to the Vancouver campus. This event celebrated the writers’ residency with the City of Burnaby. We were thrilled to hear these three globally renowned Black authors read to us from new works. We then enjoyed a Q & A with the authors, led by writer and professor, David Chariandy.

We would like to thank the SFU Students of Caribbean and African Ancestry (SOCA) for their support and the volunteers who assisted the event organizers throughout the evening. Much appreciation also goes to Wendy D Photography who took the pictures on this page.
