Lynn Coady: Her Significance as a Canadian Writer
A Talk by Niall MacKenzie & Jenny Shutek in Special Collections on January 9, 2014

SFU History alumni Jenny Shutek and English instructor Niall MacKenzie will be teaming up to discuss Lynn Coady, the 2013 recipient of the prestigious Scotiabank Giller Prize.

Coady’s papers are held in SFU Special Collections, as part of an earlier initiative to collect the papers of younger writers.

Niall MacKenzie and Jenny Shutek will discuss Coady’s work and the critical perspectives afforded by her papers in Special Collections.

Niall MacKenzie has taught at SFU since 2009. In the summer of 2011 he taught ENGL 357, a course on Cape Breton literature. Jenny Shutek, now at the University of Oxford, took that course and used the Coady archive for her research paper.

This talk will take place in Special Collections on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 12:30 – 1:30 pm. Special Collections is located in room 7100 on the 7th floor of the W.A.C. Bennett Library, Simon Fraser University, 8888 University Drive, Burnaby. Free! Refreshments will be served.
