Rachelle Yu, MA
Rachelle is a graduate student in the Child Track of the SFU Clinical Psychology program studying under the supervision of Dr. McMahon at the Institute for the Reduction of Youth Violence. In 2014, she completed her BA with a double major in Psychology and English at SFU. She then coordinated the province-wide evaluation of The Connect© Parent Group, an attachment-based parenting intervention, under the direction of Dr. Marlene Moretti. For her MA thesis, Rachelle examined the mediating role of emotion regulation on the relationship between maternal warmth/harsh discipline and oppositional defiant disorder in the early school years. Her research interests include risk and protective factors for child psychopathology within the parent-child relationship, specifically with regards to emotion regulation and behavioural difficulties in childhood. Rachelle completed her junior practicum in the Mood & Anxiety Disorders Clinic at BC Children's Hospital working with children with anxiety and selective mutism.
